July 18-19, 2020 Workshop in Tohoku
We created colorful paper fans (so-called “Uchiwa”) last weekend. We colored them with markers on the first day, and also decorated with manicure on the second day. Especially girls enjoyed a lot to paint with manicures. The beautifully colored, one-of-a-kind fans will be used in a multiple occasions during this summer!

July 12, 2020 Workshop with Rohingya Refugee Children in Tatebayashi-City, Gunma
We freely drew under the theme of “Future.” The attendees got very into drawing to the extent that they forgot about time. The attendees consisted of ages between three-year-old and fifteen-year-old looked all getting along with each other. We were impressed to see that the older actively took care of the younger during the workshop.

We painted on a large cloth with under the theme of “Post-COVID Happy Earth.” The artwork with full of unique and vivid characters brightened our day! We just wish that we will have those sceneries that were beautifully drew in the artwork very soon.

May 8, 2020 Workshop at Okuma Child Center in Miyagi
We created lovely thank you cards for Mother’s Day by using origami paper-works and glitters. We can easily imagine happy smiles on mothers’ faces! Although we have been under COVID-19 restrictions for already a long time, we would be glad if children enjoyed our activities.

2020.3.26 Workshop at Ebisu Office in Tokyo
While schools have been still closed and we had to refrain from going out due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we held a workshop with children under stress. We drew on cardboards and made cards. After having the workshop, we gave donated snacks to attended children.

We held workshops for five days in a row for those children whose schools were closed for a certain period. Every child showed unique drawings made in their ways. We hope that they can come back to school and be able to play outside again soon.

We used collected cosmetics that have been donated to our organization as painting materials. Attended children were excited to draw with cosmetics that they usually don’t have a chance to touch.

We visited a neighborhood in Cebu Island that has been struggling with poverty. We could see a lot of smiling faces after we distributed Japanese snacks to them as a donation.

The Valentines workshop for the KIDS EARTH FUND LA branch was held with the children in a poor, unsafe neighborhood. We made art with the heart-shaped crayons we baked in the oven. We gifted teddy bears with a heart on their paws to all the children.

December 3 At Kanagawa Children’s Medical Center
We made Christmas trees for the children spending Christmas at the children’s hospital. We beautifully decorated the trees with colorful nail polishes. Children, both walk-in and hospitalized patients, came to draw. We drew Christmas trees, Santa Clause, Snow Man, and the corridors in the hospital are now very Christmassy.
December 26, 2019 Workshop at Iwanuma City North Children’s Center
The final workshop of the year for KIDS EARTH FUND was held at Iwanuma City North Children’s Center in Tohoku. The children were on winter break, however the Children’s Center was crowded with children whose parents are both working. 24 children drew bright pictures with a Spring theme.
November 24 Cambodia Workshop at a home of 50 AIDS orphans
We held a workshop at a home where 50 AIDS orphans live, in Cambodia. Used leftover lipsticks and nail polishes collected by a cosmetics brand, Rosemary, were used to paint. Everybody seems to be having fun!

This year we held an art workshop with the children at the Children’s Ward in Todaiji. Todaiji Welfare Hospital accepts children with serious disabilites that are difficult to accept for care. Though the children had difficulties moving and seeing, they showed their smiles and were happy to draw freely.

At Todaiji Medical and Education Center, we held a workshop with Japanese calligrapher, Ms. Ohnai Ishii. Using “magical” sheet, water turns into just-like Indian ink look. It all dries in about ten minutes. Children and teachers enjoyed drawing and stamping their hands and feet. Such a peaceful time filled with laughing.

A lot of children’s smile at the evacuation shelter. They don’t know when they could be allowed to go school and back to their home. But they’re smiling and trying to struggle this situation. Yesterday, Kilauea volcano just erupted. We truly hope the situation is getting be better soon.
