Today, we held a workshop to draw pictures with the children at the Children’s Center located within the Mashiki-cho Health and Welfare Center in Kumamoto Prefecture. Many children participated, from preschoolers to elementary school students. Each child expressed the theme of “My Kumamoto” through their paintings, and there were children who told the state of Kuramoto at the time.
As for Mashiki-cho, local residents spoke about how even now after 3 years there are still many people who are forced to live in temporary housing because of the disaster. Presently, through ground cracking caused by the sinking of the land and bridge restoration work, etc., and places where it is not possible to pass by closed roads, the scars of damage still remain.
